Natural growth was cleared at Bhadirthipet to make way for plantations that are meant to compensate for deforestation from the Ramagundem Coal Mine (OCP-III) project.

This 70 ha plantation Bhadirthipet is one of seven plantation sites meant to offset the diversion of reserved forest land for mining at Adrail Reserve forest in another district. .
The total amount paid by SCCL to expand their Ramagundem Oil from Coal Process (OCP-III) mine (see right) is not reported on e-Green Watch.
The plantation at Bhadirthipet has a budget of 33,26,900 to plant 44,440 saplings of four unspecified varieties (approximately rs. 74/sapling). The 5-year project was started in 2013. The plantation is being carried out on 'degraded notified forest' land.
Satellite Imagery Analysis
Satellite imagery shows natural growth (2003, 2011, 2012, 2013). By January, 2016, the natural growth is cleared and the grid formation is visible with saplings planted. Another plantation on the north-east side of the polygon is also visible.
